About Nicola
Nicola Begley is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a Master’s degree in Exercise Medicine (Oncology) and over a decade of experience in empowering people through movement. She is the founder of The Active Studio, an exercise physiology clinic based in Sydney, and the co-creator of The Active Education Program, providing pilates certification for allied health professionals.
Nicola’s clinical expertise lies in supporting women affected by cancer, particularly breast cancer, through safe, personalised and evidence-based exercise interventions. Her passion for this work was born from witnessing the uncertainty, fatigue, and identity loss many women face during treatment, and realising how profoundly exercise could support their recovery physically, mentally and emotionally.
As an educator, Nicola is committed to bridging the gap between research and real-world practice. She has developed this Breast Cancer & Exercise Mastery Course to equip exercise professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and clinical reasoning skills needed to work safely and effectively in oncology care. Nicola combines deep clinical knowledge with an engaging, practical teaching style that helps other professionals feel empowered to work with complex conditions.
Who is this program for?

Frequently asked questions:
Q1. Is the program ESSA Accredited?
This brand new program has not officially been accredited by ESSA (although we do have plans to). There are approximately 7.5 learning hours and you can claim CPD points under further education where 1 learning hour equates to 1 CPD point. As proof for your digital logbooks, upon completion of the live lessons you will be required to sit an assessment and once passing will receive a certificate of completion.
Q2. It mentions Nicola is an Oncology Exercise Physiologist. What further training has she done in the space?
Nicola has completed a Masters in Exercise Medicine (Oncology). This degree provided in-depth training in cancer biology, treatment pathways, clinical complications, and the evidence-based use of exercise as medicine across the entire cancer continuum.
But beyond formal education, Nicola has over 10 years of hands-on clinical experience working with women affected by breast cancer, from diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship.
Q3. If you cannot attend live, are lessons recorded?
Yes, all lessons are recorded and uploaded into the student dashboard. Because we understand people learn in different ways, alongside the video recording there will also be an audio version for you to listen along just like a podcast.
Q4. How long do I have course access for?
You will have 6 months access to the live lesson recordings through your online student portal. The accompanying learning manuals and resources are all downloadable and can be kept as references once the portal is closed.
At HER Education value continued support and give you lifetime access to the Breast Cancer community group and the HER Education Super Community. You can ask questions with fellow students, educators and like minded women’s health practitioners for as long as you choose to be part of the community.
Q5. I have no previous experience in oncology is this still appropriate for me?
Yes definitely! There are no pre-requisites for this program. We would recommend it to the practitioner who knows that exercise plays a powerful role in cancer recovery but doesn’t yet feel equipped to step into that space.
Q6. I don’t currently see oncology clients, is this still appropriate for me?
Yes! We are of the opinion that you are unable to attract your ideal clients without the ideal skills. Upskilling first to then promote your work in the space is absolutely essential to career growth.
This program was created with care, intention, and a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver meaningful care in the oncology space. Whether you’re looking to grow your confidence, expand your niche, or simply do better by your clients—this is your chance to level up.
